Week 1

Our first practice was more an info meeting. We discussed fundraising, the mission and all the equipment required for a triathon. I'm pretty much all set. This weekend I go buy my bike and then I'm ready to rock!

I like to call this picture "I have to raise how much???"

Our coaches have emphasized how slowly we should start this week. I'm use to running every day so it's been tough to hop on a bike or in the pool vs. running. I like to run.

This week's workout
MON: rest
TUE: 30 minute run (3 miles)
WED: 1 hour on trainer (aka. exercise bike)
THU: 30 minute easy swim
FRI: rest
SAT: 3.5 mile run

The first actual practice went well. I had an awesome run. I think what inspired me so much was my teammate Chris. He has trained for multiple Tri's. His reason for joining TnT was his daughter who was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 8.

He brought her to the practice and she's now 15 and cancer free!

Their story isn't just a great inspiration for me. It's also great way to show people where their money is going. If I would have gotten cancer at 8 years old I likely would have died. Now there is a 95% survival rate for those with Leukemia. Amazing statistics!

Had a great run with the team. You will always find me smiling when I'm running. It's my happy place.

Thanks for checking in!
